The talent that the SJA/CHS Choir possesses is outstanding. CHS and SJA are among the top two high schools throughout the state to have the most singers selected for the LMEA All State Honor Choir. In addition to the all-state honors, the choir performs at a choral assessment festival. The assessment consists of two categories: performance of three choral works and sight singing (singing a work they have never seen before). The groups receive scores from each of the three concert judges ranging from 1 (Superior) to 5 (Unsatisfactory) as well as one sight-reading judge. A choir that attains an overall rating of 1 for performance on stage and 1 for sightsinging, receives the sweepstakes trophy, the highest achievement possible at the festival. The following choirs earned Sweepstakes Trophies: SJA Beginning Treble Choir, SJA Advanced Treble Choir, CHS Men’s Choir, CHS/SJA Combined Advanced Mixed Choir and Schola Cantorum, CHS/SJA Chamber Singers.
Congratulations on an incredible year!
