Soccer comes from behind to beat Captain Shreve, advance to quarterfinals for 5th straight year

A second half goal by Junior Jack Kleinpeter was enough for the CHS Soccer team to see out a gutsy 2-1 win over the 16-seed Captain Shreve Gators on Thursday night at the Couhig Family Athletic Complex.

A first half goal from Junior Jacques Breaux cancelled out an early Shreve goal.

The Bears' high press caused problems for the Gators all afternoon as both Bears goals came off of Captain Shreve turnovers inside their own half.

It's the fifth consecutive quarterfinals appearance for the Bears who have won the last two Division I State Championships.

Next up for CHS is a rematch of the 2022 State Championship game against No. 9 Dutchtown. Kickoff is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 6:00pm at the Couhig Family Athletic Complex
