Senior Chris Day's brilliant goal in the 70th minute broke a scoreless tie and sent the Catholic High soccer team to the State Championship Match for the fourth time in five years.
The Bears and visiting St. Paul's were deadlocked for the majority of the match. It looked to be heading to extra time and possibly penalty kicks before Day gathered in a pass from Andrew Schmeeckle and rocketed a shot past the diving Wolves' keeper.
CHS will take on Jesuit Saturday night at Southeastern Louisiana University's Strawberry Stadium with the Division I State Championship on the line. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m.
