Senior named The Advocate's Star of Stars for Boys' Swimming in 2022

Senior swimmer William DeJean was selected by The Advocate as the Star of Stars award winner for high school Boys' Swimming in 2022.

DeJean helped lead the Bears to a runner-up finish at the state championship meet and an incredible 30th consecutive city championship.

He was named the Capital City Swim League's Swimmer of the Meet at the City Championship, and also took home All-Metro MVP honors for his work in the pool. Head Coach Doug Logsdon says DeJean is a team leader and has been a vital part of the Bears team for the last four seasons.

"William is a four year varsity letterman for the team," Logsdon said. "He helped the team win state titles in both his freshman and sophomore seasons, this past year he was the only senior on the team and his experience and leadership led us to a great 2022 season. He always led by example and was a great role model for his teammates. His work ethic and competitive attitude was contagious, and I look forward to seeing William compete at SMU."

DeJean won an individual state championship in 2022 in the 200 yard Individual Medley, he also anchored the Bears' state championship winning 200-yard Freestyle Relay team.

DeJean will be honored at the Star of Stars banquet on May 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the L'auberge Event Center.

Tickets for the event are available at www.starofstars.net.
