Nelson Sanchez '89 named new CHS swim coach

A CHS alumnus is returning to 855 Hearthstone Drive for his second stint in charge of the Bears swimming program.

Nelson Sanchez '89 will take over as the head of the CHS Swim team starting in the fall.

Sanchez went on to swim at LSU and coach the Bears for a brief stint back in the 1990s.

Sanchez replaces Doug Logsdon '02 who will be moving in to an administrative role for the 2023-24 school year after a successful stint in charge of the program.

The Bears finished as state runners-up the last two seasons, with two state titles coming in the two seasons before that.

In school history, CHS has won 8 state swimming champions, and finished as state runners-up 17 times. The Bears have also dominated on the city level, winning the Capital City Swim League's City Championship Meet for the last 30 years.
