Indoor Track & Field Takes Home State Runner-Up

Last Saturday, the Catholic High Track & Field team took home the state runner-up trophy after a tremendous performance in the LHSAA State Indoor Meet. The Bears were led by the 4x400m and 4x800m relay teams that both placed first in their events.

This was the 7th state runner-up finish in program history and the 21st time CHS has either finished as the state champion or state runner-up.

Several Bears had standout performances on the track and in the field. Senior James Archer finished 4th in the 60m hurdles. The 4x200m relay team finished 2nd just behind meet champion Scotlandville. Senior Cameron Brazell finished 4th in the 400m. Senior Matthew Maynard finished 2nd in the 800m. Sophomore Jonathan Thompson placed 5th in the 2 mile run.

In the field, sophomore Jack Torrance placed 6th in the shot put. Finally, junior Alex Huffine recorded a 4th place finish in the long jump.

The Bears will now prepare for their outdoor season that begins on March 2 at the Pete Boudreaux Invitational.
