The Catholic High Golf Team hit the road last weekend and finished as Runners-Up in the Southern Select High School Invitational at The Refuge in Flowood, MS.
The team shot seven over par on day one. The Bears were paced by senior UL-Monroe signee Alston Manne and Sophomore Drew Prieto who both shot rounds of 1 under par.
Day 2 of the tournament was played in steady rain and difficult conditions. The round had to be called after 12 holes with the Bears shooting an impressive 3 under par before they were pulled off the course.
"I was really proud of the effort and focus of our young men this weekend. They were complimented over and over by people from other states and teams in the way they competed and represented Catholic High School. This was a first class tournament, and we were honored to be a part of it," said head coach Christopher Davis.
The Bears got on the road as soon as the tournament was over to travel to Fairhope, Alabama where they will be competing in the 1864 Tournament hosted by Fairhope and Daphne High Schools at the Robert Trent Jones Lakewood and Rock Creek Golf Courses. Tournament play takes place through Wednesday of this week.
