Coach Michael Billings named 2022 LBCA Assistant Coach of the Year

Long time CHS Baseball assistant coach Michael Billings '06 was named the 2022 assistant coach of the year by the Louisiana Baseball Coaches' Association on Friday, January 13.

Billings has been a part of the baseball staff for 12 years, including the last nine years as a full-time faculty coach.

The award comes on the heels on the Bears claiming the school's fifth state championship in 2022.

It's the third time Billings has been a part of a state championship coaching staff at CHS, also working with the team during title runs in 2013 and 2010. He says it's an honor to get this award, but that the award belongs to more than just him.

"This award is no doubt a team award," Billings said. "It is a reflection of the work ethic and character of each and every player and coach in our program. The hours and work each person put in throughout the fall and spring of last season was truly impressive, but the relationships that were formed is what really made last year so special. I am just blessed for the opportunity to be a part of this great community."

Head Coach Brad Bass says he could think of no better person to get this award or to help lead the Bears Baseball program.

“Coach Billings has been a huge part of the success in the CHS program over his 12 full seasons here," Coach Bass said. "He’s won 3 State Championship and has led many players to the next level. He’s a great coach, a great mentor, and great role model for our players. This is well deserved honor.”

Congratulations Coach Michael Billings '06 on this tremendous honor.
