CHS Golfers Heading to State

At 9:48 a.m. on Monday, May 1, the CHS Golf team will tee off and begin their quest for the team’s first state championship since 2007.

“We’re excited for the opportunity to compete for a state title,” said head coach Chris Davis. “This team has done everything possible to put themselves in a great position to be successful.”

Led by Walter Anderson, a Furman signee, and Carter Schmitt, a Missouri Science and Technology signee, this year’s senior class has compiled a career record of 194-11.

“This group of seniors has provided incredible leadership to our program that has resulted in a lot of success on the course,” said Coach Davis.

The Bears will compete with defending state champion C.E. Byrd, who beat CHS by just five shots a year ago, along with regional rival St. Paul’s for the Division I state title. This year’s tournament takes place at The Farm d’ Allie in Carencro, Louisiana.
