CHS Football wins thriller over Zachary, claims first District title under Simoneaux

The Bears scored 17 straight points in the 4th Quarter and erased a 14-point deficit to district rival Zachary to claim the District 4-5A title on Thursday night.

Senior Landon Carter booted a 40-yard FG with just 19 seconds left in the ball game to give Catholic High its first lead of the night.

A stout Black Hat Defense shut out a powerhouse Zachary offense in the final period, paving the way for TDs from Senior Shelton Sampson and Sophomore Ryland Parker to bring the Bears back from trailing 21-7.

It's head coach David Simoneaux's first district title in charge of the Bears.

CHS will have an opening round bye in the first round of the 2022 LHSAA Select Division I Playoffs which start next week.

The Bears will find out their seed in the playoffs as well as possible opponents on Sunday morning.
