CHS Basketball Starts Season 1-0

The defending Division I state champions began their season Monday night with a big 74-63 victory over Crescent City. After a back and forth first three quarters, CHS used a 10-0 fourth quarter run to distance themselves from the visiting Pioneers.

The Basketball Bears were led by junior Tate McCurry's 36-point outburst to go along with 12 rebounds. Junior Nico Jones contributed 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists to the opening night win.

"It's always good to get that first win under your belt," said head coach Derrick Jones '96. "Obviously, Tate had a monster night, but I think everyone contributed and played extremely hard."

The Bears are back in action Monday, November 20 as they take on Ponchatoula in the Dunham Holiday Tournament. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at Sportsplex.
