Senior Andrew Hodges launched a three-run home run to cap off a seven run third inning and propel the CHS baseball team to a 10-0 win over Acadiana in the LHSAA Division I Select Semifinals.
The Bears got on the scoreboard early scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Noah Lewis led the inning off with a single and came around to score on a Trip Dobson fielder's choice. Later, Jack Ruckert raced home on a wild pitch to extend the CHS lead.
The third inning saw seven Bears cross home plate. CHS loaded the bases with one out before Edward Henriquez was hit by a pitch to bring in a run. Bennett Smith scored on a pass ball and William Schmidt singled in a run to grow the Bears' lead to 5-0. Hodges then delivered the big blow with his three-run homer to left field. Ruckert brought the final run of the inning home on an RBI single as the Bears lead grew to 9-0.
CHS took advantage of the run rule in the fifth inning as Brooks Wright singled home Lewis for the final margin.
Senior Ryder Loup was spectacular on the mound for the Bears tossing five shutout innings and allowing just two singles. Loup ran his record to 8-0 on the season.
Up next for the Baseball Bears is a date with John Curtis in the State Championship Game on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
