Catholic High Wrestling Puts Service Before Self

After a Friday night Homecoming win, it was an early Saturday morning for the Catholic High wrestling team, building a wheelchair ramp for Mrs. Ella Hamilton, who has been disabled with leukemia since 2015. Head Coach Tommy Prochaska’s annual wheelchair ramp build began in 2017 and has become a tradition and team building exercise leading into the wrestling season.

This project is unique because it offers young men the opportunity to experience the blessing of making an immediate tangible difference in the life of someone less fortunate, while also learning basic construction skills. The project is made possible each year through Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge, a local non-profit that provides critical home repairs to extremely low-income veteran, disabled, and elderly homeowners.

“ We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” 2 Corinthians 5:20
