Bears claim 2 seed in Football Playoffs, await winner of Rummel and John Ehret

The CHS Football Bears will have a week off to prepare to defend their 2021 State Title after claiming the #2 seed in the 2022 LHSAA Division I Select Playoffs.

The Bears (9-1, 5-0) ran through district 4-5A without a loss, and are on a nine game winning streak after dropping a heart breaker to Our Lady of Good Counsel to open the season.

Head Coach David Simoneaux, Jr. says the bye week is a perfect chance for his team to get healthy and prepare for the stretch run.

"We are excited too get back to work this week and sharpen our own sword," Simoneaux said. "The bye week gives us some time to rest and heal up while fixing somethings that we feel we can improve on that will make us better down the stretch."

CHS will await the winner of (15) Archbishop Rummel and (18) John Ehret who will play Friday, Nov. 11 at Joe Yenni Stadium in New Orleans.

Simoneaux says no matter the opponent, their goal is clear: Repeat as State Champions.

"The goal of the playoffs is to win the whole playoff tournament," Simoneaux said. "You do that by winning each individual rep and winning each individual day. We have a mature football team that loves and cares for one another. I look forward to getting back onto the field with them on November 18th."
