The Catholic High Football team found themselves in a familiar position this Friday night as they trailed St. Thomas More 14-12 with just 5 minutes remaining. But, just as they did a week earlier, the Bears made clutch plays with the game on the line and escaped with an 18-14 road victory over the Cougars. The win also snapped St. Thomas More's 25-game winning streak, the longest current streak in the state.
After Tanner Forbes nailed a 27-yard field goal to bring the Bears within two at the 7:36 mark in the fourth quarter, it was up to the defense to make a play. Junior Harrison Kidder did just that as he fell on a botched snap giving CHS the ball back and a chance to take the lead. Quarterback Baylor Graves took advantage of that opportunity three plays later finding Amari Clayton over the top of the Cougars' defense for a 38-yard game-winning touchdown pass.
The Bears moved to 2-0 on the season with the win and will now prepare to welcome U-High to Memorial Stadium this Friday at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at i2tickets.com.
