BATON ROUGE– The Catholic High School Athletic Department released the schedule for the 2021 football season. In 10 regular season games, the Bears composed a schedule that has them facing two reigning state championship teams and will showcase their talent on a national level.

The Bears open the 2021 campaign in a big way by traveling to Olney, Maryland to take on Our Lady of Good Counsel, a dominant force in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference with five champion and seven runner-up titles. First-year Head Coach David Simoneaux is ready to lead the Bears against the long list of tough opponents.

“The opportunity to play one of the hardest pre-district schedules in the state will prepare our players for a tough 5-5A district and another run in the playoffs. It is an honor to play and compete against such outstanding competition and we are working every day, preparing to be ready for the challenge,” noted Coach Simoneaux.

In week two, the Bears host the 2020 Class 5A State Champion Acadiana High School. The Bears will round out their pre-district schedule with a contest against 2020 Division III State Champion Lafayette Christian Academy. As the Bears begin district play in October, they will host East Ascension, McKinley, St. Amant, and Woodlawn before finishing the regular season at Dutchtown.

“The intensity of our schedule is a representation of our vision for the football program at Catholic High and why our staff is excited to lead these young men on the field this season,” commented Simoneaux. “It’s our goal to provide these young men with the opportunity to play against the best talent in the nation while holding true to the spirit of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and Father Andre Coindre’s motto- Courage and Trust.”
