CHS Students and Faculty Attend 2026 Catholic Schools Week Mass

CHS students, faculty, staff, and administrators joined other school communities from Catholic schools in the Baton Rouge Diocese for a special mass in honor of Catholic Schools Week.

In celebrating Catholic Schools, Reverand Michael G. Duca, Bishop, Diocese of Baton Rouge spoke to us on the journey of growing up and reminded us that it is not a journey taken alone. Teachers, mentors, and educators have played an essential role in guiding and supporting us throughout our lives. He urged us to remain mindful of their influence and to show appreciation for all who have helped lead us to where we are today.

Many students were invited to attend the mass and represent CHS. Chosen by faculty and staff were Ben Chiasson '26, Anthony DiVincenti '28, Michael Hoffpauier '28, Aizik Nguyen '27, Nick Pecquet '26, and Mickey Smith '27. The CHS/SJA choir provided beautiful music for this special celebration.

Bishop Michael Duca and Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Baton Rouge, Dr. Cindy Ryals presented Margie Alexander and Donald Hood with special plaques honoring their outstanding 45 years of service in the Catholic School system. We also honored our Principal, Dr. Tom Eldringhoff for his 40 years of service in the Catholic School system. Congrats to them and a special thank you for all the years of their service.

Another special thank you and congrats to Pat Dulaney and Brad Messina (30 years), Christy Kessler and Sheila Silvio (25 years), Lizzi Canady, Jami Hayes, Drew Losavio, Shelley Reinecke and Shelley Vance (20 years), Brad Bass, Chris Davis, Carey Lauret, Corey Mistretta, Stephanie Potter, Nini Ramos-Grasa and Sheri Schoonmaker (15 years), Philip Evans, Tammy Feduccia, Taylor Messinger, Jarrod Quiebodeaux, Sean Rogers, and Ian Widdick (10 years).

We are so thankful to all of our amazing faculty and staff for the love, support, and dedication for not only our students, but our CHS community as a whole.
