Cur Dog Baseball Captures Third Straight State Title

Senior Harrison Kidder's walk-off single in the bottom of the 15th inning clinched the Catholic High baseball team's third consecutive LHSAA Division I state championship this past Friday night.

The Bears defeated Brother Martin in Game 1 of the championship series 6-2 behind a complete-game effort from starting pitcher Lucas Lawrence. In Game 2, the Crusaders jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the combination of starting pitcher Mills Richardson and reliever Tanner Forbes tossed 14 straight scoreless innings to give the Bears a chance to win. The game was nearly over in the 9th inning, but a walk was nullified when a Bear hitter did not touch first base. After 6 more grueling innings, Kidder knocked in Myles Auxt, who led the inning off with a single.

This is the 8th state championship in the program's history.
