Two CHS Students Receive Seed Money for Startups at YEA BR Program
This week, Young Entrepreneurs Academy of Baton Rouge hosted our annual Community Pitch, a Shark Tank-like pitch event for students participating in the Academy this year. YEA hosted more than 250 people at LSU's Patrick F. Taylor Hall including special guests Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, and LSU College of Business Dean Jared Llorens (CHS Class of 1993.) Since September, students have developed their brands, business plans, and presentations. At the event, they had three minutes to pitch their startups to a panel of six local executives for seed funding. Attendees witnessed firsthand the transformation of students into CEOs! We are thrilled to announce that Sophomore Andrew Grissom was awarded $450 in seed funding to launch his startup Designify-- an app that will allow home builders to purchase house designs based on their own wants and specifications. Senior Porter Tanner was awarded $600 in seed funding for his Blitz Media company. Porter developed Blitz Media after running two small businesses of his own and running into marketing issues. You can watch his presentation at this link: https://youtu.be/E7dIvHWRfgw
YEA BR prepares students for more than just entrepreneurship. The program develops confident, creative leaders. YEA is looking for its next cohort of student CEOs.
