CHS Announces 2027 National Merit® Scholarship Program Semi-Finalists and Commended Students

Catholic High School administrators are proud to announce that nine CHS seniors have been named 2027 National Merit Scholarship Semi-finalists! Congratulations to CHS seniors (pictured above; from left) Parker Norman, Thomas Alley, Bruce Talbert, Brayden Ford, Charles Bugea, Charles Jeansonne, Adrian Landry, Jacob Schroeder, and Michael Esteve who will all go on to compete for nearly $24 million in college scholarships!

More than 1.2 million juniors in about 20,000 high schools across the country entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, representing less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. The number of semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the national total of graduating seniors.

We would also like to congratulate five other young men (pictured above) who were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program as Commended Students. Pictured from left are Miles Giacone, Colin Laird, Aizik Nguyen, Henry Faget, and William Giarrusso.

All of these young men submitted a detailed application about their academic records, participation in school and community activities, leadership accomplishments, honors, and awards to be considered as a National Merit Scholar. They were also endorsed by a school official, wrote an essay, and had outstanding grades throughout high school.

Congratulations, gentlemen!
