Track Team Captures State Title

Catholic High captured the State Title in the Class 5A State Track Meet held May 4 at LSU on May 4. The Bears tallied 116.2 points. The Bears swept the three relays, won five events and finished second in another six events to dominate the competition and set a new 5A state meet scoring record in the process. The victory marked the fifth state title in the last six years for the Bears.
Field Events High Jump: Chance Stephens, third place with a height of 6-6
Pole Vault: Chadd Burns, fourth place with a height of 14-6
Shot put: Garret Broussard, fourth place with a distance of 51-5.25
Javelin: William Crosby, first place with a distance of 183-0; Matthew Venable, second place with a distance of 181-0
Discus: Ross Quinlan, first place with a distance of 157-4; Nigel Despinasse, second place with a distance of 152-9
Running Events 4x200m Relay: CHS, first place with a time of 1:26.63 (Team of A. Price, D. Woodard, T. Johnson and D. Guice)
1,600m: Joseph St. Cyr, second place with a time of 4:17.97
110m Hurdles: Ken Ward, second place with a time of 14.24
800m: Matthew Rhorer, second place with a time of 1:55.74
4x100m Relay: CHS, first with a time of 41.86 (Team of A. Price, D. Woodard, D. Guice and K. Thomas)
300m Hurdles: Davis Richardson, fourth place with a time of 38.93
4x400 Relay: CHS, first place with a time of 3:18.60 (Team of M. Rhorer, D. Richardson, D. Woodard and P. Rodman)
