Alumni and members of the local tennis community had the opportunity to compete against the Catholic High state champion tennis team at the inaugural CHS Tour of Champions. Guests competing against the high school champions included local tennis professionals, past nationally ranked junior tennis players as well as Catholic High alumni who also won State when they competed at CHS.
Highland road was the site where two Shreveport natives amassed the most wins. Jonathan Howard, a nationally ranked junior and state champion at Loyola College Prep, as well as fellow Shreveport native and state champion at Byrd High School, Jonathan Walker, won the most games. "It was wonderful being around such great kids. They are fine young gentleman and amazing athletes," said Walker. Catholic High senior Will Aguillard followed right behind as high scorer among the Catholic High tennis teammates.
Also featured were alumni, Sonny Chastain '82 as well as the dynamite duo of Johnny Lopoo ’88 and Carey Guglielmo ’86, the 1986 doubles champions for Catholic High School which also won the team State Championship for the fourth year in the row in that era.
Funds from the CHS Tour of Champions were raised to support the tennis teams' efforts for next season.
