Doug Nelson '79

Doug Nelson ’79 is a certified public accountant with a B.S. in Accounting from Louisiana State University.  He is a partner with Hannis T. Bourgeois, LLP, where he serves as a member of the firm's executive committee and as its Assurance Services department head.  He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants. 

Doug and his wife Susan (SJA Class of ’79) are currently members of St. Patrick’s Church where Doug serves on the Parish Finance Council.  Prior to joining St. Patrick’s, Doug had been actively involved in various ministries and committees at St. Thomas More Church and School.  He was a member of the Pastoral Council, Confirmation team leader and Eucharistic Minister.  He also served several years as Finance Chairman of the St Thomas More School Board and was a member of the St Thomas More School Strategic Planning Committee.

In addition to various business organizations, Doug is also a member of the Metropolitan Serra Club, a Bishop Ott Shelter team leader and presently serves on the CHS audit committee. 

Doug and Susan have one son, Ben ’05, who is a graduate of LSU and Tulane Law School.
