Doug Nelson '79
Doug Nelson ’79 is a certified public accountant with a B.S. in Accounting from Louisiana State University. He is a partner with Hannis T. Bourgeois, LLP and a member of the firm’s executive committee. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants.
Doug and his wife Susan (SJA Class of ’79) are currently members of St. Patrick’s Church where Doug has recently been appointed to serve on the Parish Finance Council. Prior to joining St. Patrick’s, Doug had been actively involved in various ministries and committees at St. Thomas More Church and School. He was a member of the Pastoral Council, Confirmation team leader and Eucharistic Minister. He also served several years as Finance Chairman of the St Thomas More School Board and was a member of the St Thomas More School Strategic Planning Committee.
In addition to various business organizations, Doug is also a member of the Metropolitan Serra Club, a Bishop Ott Shelter team leader and presently serves on the CHS audit committee.
Doug and Susan have one son, Ben ’05, who is a graduate of LSU and is currently attending Tulane Law School.
