We believe that our schools should have a wide variety of quality extracurricular activities as a way of enhancing our holistic approach to education. The purpose of such variety is to give ample opportunity to students to develop their skills and to make the school a stimulating and inviting place. Quality extracurricular programs develop students' pride in their school and in themselves, increase their receptivity to formation, and promote their success in all aspects of school life.
Catholic High School sponsors 28 extracurricular organizations:
Band, Chorus, Drama and Cheerleaders include both Catholic High School and St. Joseph's Academy students.

Extracurriculars... since 2000
  • The CHS yearbook, Bruin, received first place in the Louisiana Scholastic Press Association competition in 2007.  In 2008, the Bruin received third place and Bruin staff members received 15 of the top 18 awards in categories judged. 
  • The Catholic High Key Club has won Gold, Silver and Platinum division awards as well as a first-place achievement award.
  • The student newspaper, Bearly Published, was named best student newspaper in the state in Louisiana Scholastic Press Association competition as well as International First Place from Quill and Scroll Association.
  • The men's chorus, mixed ensemble and other choral groups received sweepstakes trophies at state choral festivals.
  • CHS students were elected to top positions at the district, state and national levels of organizations including:
        Hi-Y Governor and Lt. Governor
        National President of Mu Alpha Theta
        Louisiana Association of Student Councils President
        Key Club Lieutenant Governor
        French Club State President
        Student Council State President and Parliamentarian
        Boys State Treasurer
        Junior Classical League State Positions
  • The CHS band received superior ratings at state festivals.
